On December 6 and 7, 2025, the War Up Close VR Exhibition was hosted at the Calgary Central Library, one of Canada’s largest and most innovative public libraries. As one of Calgary’s iconic landmarks, the library welcomes thousands of residents and visitors each year, making it an ideal venue to share Ukraine’s story.
Many visitors came specifically to experience the exhibition, while others discovered it as they passed through the library and chose to stay and learn more.
“I recognize all of this. I found things like these all the time when I was a child—just lying in the streets while playing with my friends. It’s very difficult to see.”
These were the words of a young man from Afghanistan after viewing fragments of Russian missiles that our volunteers had brought from Ukraine.
The exhibition also welcomed local television crews and other media outlets. Throughout the event, project volunteers shared their personal stories and helped raise awareness of the ongoing war in Ukraine.
