In the 34th year of Ukraine’s independence, the War Up Close took place in Kelowna (Canada, BC)
On August 23, as Ukraine marked the 34th anniversary of its independence, the War Up Close Virtual Reality Museum was presented in Kelowna, Canada.
More than twenty volunteers from different cities and countries joined our team to help make this event possible.
The exhibition welcomed a large number of visitors. Journalists from local radio stations, newspapers, and online media interviewed Mykola Omelchenko, photographer and co-founder of the project, who traveled to Canada to share his firsthand experience of the war in Ukraine with the local community.
Alongside the VR museum, visitors viewed an exhibition of artwork created by refugee children as part of the Sunflowers Dreams project. The children whose artwork was displayed are currently living in Lviv. The event also featured the Sustain Ukraine project, whose volunteers support a teacher from Kyiv who has united her students to help family members and loved ones serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
This initiative was made possible through the generous support of The Ukrainian Orthodox Parish of Sts. Peter and Paul Church, as well as donors and supporters from Canada and other countries.
